Sherry Elizabeth Smith Gray, age 64, of Troy formerly of Burnet and Copperas Cove was tragically taken from this life on December 20, 2018 in Temple, Texas.
Sherry was born November 9, 1954 in Killeen, Texas to Hansford Bernard Smith and Sibyl Cordie Brooks Smith.
She graduated from Copperas Cove High School with the Class of 1973 after graduation she attended Central Texas College in Killeen, the University of Texas in Austin and Tarleton State University of Stephenville where she received her Bachelor of Science in May of 1980. She later attended Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton and Tarleton State University of Stephenville where she received her Master’s Degree in 2000.
Sherry loved being a teacher, a profession she was a part of for 34 years total in Copperas Cove Independent School District until her retirement.
She was preceded in by her parents and a daughter, Shelly Gray Fidler.
Sherry leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Robert Larry (Bob) Gray of Troy; a grandson, Cord Fidler of Temple; a sister, Tina Sherese Smith Warlock; a son by marriage Mathew Paul Fidler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shelly Elizabeth Gray Fidler, age 36, of Temple formerly of Burnet and Copperas Cove was tragically taken on December 20, 2018 in Temple, Texas.
Shelly was born August 8, 1982 in Killeen Texas to Robert Larry (Bob) Gray and Sherry Elizabeth Smith Gray.
Shelly graduated from Lampasas High School with the Class of 2001, after high school Shelly attended and received her Bachelor of Science from Tarleton State University with honors.
She was a Physical Education Coach for Belton Independent Scholl District at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sherry Elizabeth Smith Gray and both her paternal and maternal grandparents.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a son, Cord Fidler of Temple; her father, Robert Larry (Bob) Gray of Troy; two aunts, Tina Warlock and Lanell Gray Jackson and numerous cousins.
The Gray family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Crawford-Bowers funeral Home in Copperas Cove. A memorial service celebrating Sherry and Shelly’s life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the Lea Ledger Auditorium at Copperas Cove High School.
