A loving Mom through and through,
You suffered in silence every day,
An illness that would not go away.
But now you have no more pain,
For God’s loving arms have healed you again”

Heide M. Fleming, age 81, of Kempner, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023.
Heide was born on November 16, 1941, in Munich, Germany to her parents Franz and Elizabeth.
In her younger years she was an avid athlete, running track and field was her passion, and she would often say that she ran circles around the boys. She met her husband, Edgar Fleming while he was stationed in Germany, and they were married and shared 41 wonderful years together before his passing in 2009.
They spent many years traveling while Ed was in the military, which gave them many fabulous stories to share with the family. Heide decided in her late 40’s that she wanted to go to school to become a Real Estate agent; she went on to build a thriving career and spent more than a decade of her life devoted to it.
Heide was also talented in so many areas. She could crochet just about anything, from beautiful blankets to stuffed animals in which many of these treasures are still enjoyed by her family and friends. She was also a fantastic cook; German cuisine was her specialty. We all would get excited when it came time for her to make her famous bread dumplings, fruit salad, and let’s not forget to mention her Thanksgiving dressing. Even though we will try to replicate it, nothing will ever come close.
Among her other talents, she was also an artist, she loved to draw, write calligraphy and she could write a poem that would leave you speechless. She had a very keen sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
Even though our lives will look different now without her here, we have comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life, Edgar Fleming.
Heide is survived by Son, Michael (Paula) Fleming; Daughter, Corrina Johnston; Alexys (Derek) Fleming; Grand Children, Krystal (Ryan) Baker; Brandi (Ezra) Slaughter; Allen Hilton; 7 Great Grand Children; siblings in Germany; and family in Virginia. She will be missed by all!
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her memory.
A private service will be held at a later date.
