Diane was born in Marietta, Georgia on March 11th, 1958. On June 22nd, 1974 Diane married
the love of her life, military man Karl Garrett. Soon after they married, Diane left Georgia for
the first time – spending 3 tours in Germany, 2 assignments on Fort Stewart, GA, 2 assignments
on Fort Hood, TX, and 1 assignment on Fort Riley, KS. During her time on Fort Hood, Diane fell
deeply in love with Texas. In December of 1998, Karl retired and they decided to settle down in
Copperas Cove, TX.
Diane’s enthusiasm for the Dallas Cowboys went unmatched, she never passed up an
opportunity to defend her team’s reputation. She had an intense passion for her second
amendment, in fact she spent a good chunk of her life as a firearms expert. She was strong
minded and never wavered from her beliefs, but she was so incredibly loving and caring. She
had the biggest soft spot for all cats and kittens of the world. She loved traveling and embarking
on adventures with her friends and family, whether be by road trips or on a cruise. Diane never
ceased to put her family and friends needs first, no matter the cost to herself. She was the
embodiment of a strong woman, everything she overcame in her life is truly inspiring to those
whom love her.
As she embarks on her journey to reunite with her daughter Kally Garrett, Diane leaves behind
her daughter, Karla Garrett; mother, Buelah Gunter; Former husband, Karl Garrett;
Granddaughters, Desiree Garrett and Letia Howard; Grandson-in-law, Isaac Shiver; Great-
Grandchildren, Jordan Zayas and Isabella Shiver; Best friends, Rhonda Kay, Lora Anderson and
Cynthia Boone
