Daniel Danny Louie Austin

Memorial services for Daniel Louie “Danny” Austin, 51, of Copperas Cove will be 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove with Dr. Frank Somera Jr. officiating. Danny passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at his home.

Daniel was born Nov. 29, 1959 at Ft. Hood, TX to Louie and Kathleen Austin. He was a graduate of Killeen High School and from Central Texas College with an AAS in Criminal Justice. He married Katherine Ann McCamley Feb 28, 1987 in Killeen. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 until 1982. He began employment with the city of Copperas Cove as a dispatcher May 1, 1983 and joined the Police Department as an officer Aug. 1985. He retired as a Lieutenant July 2010, in charge of overseeing community services. Danny was a member of the Copperas Cove Optimist Club and the Mount Hiram Masonic Lodge #595 A.F & A.M. of Copperas Cove.

Mr. Austin was preceded in death by his father on July 3, 1988. Survivors include his wife Kathy and two children, Kyle and Kate Austin of Copperas Cove, his mother, Kathleen Torres of Killeen, and one brother, Dennis Austin of Harker Heights.
