28, 2024. Bobby Ray was born December 7, 1956 to the late Lawyer and Bessie Scott - Rainey
in Anderson, South Carolina.
At an early age, Bobby Ray joined Mt. Carmel C.M.E. Church.
Bobby Ray graduated from Westside High School in 1975, Upon graduation Bobby Ray joined
the United States Army where he served 22 years and retired in 1997. After retirement, he was
employed at the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Center on Fort Cavazos for over 24 years.
During his 22 years in the service he received: Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army
Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Non-commissioned
Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with Numerical 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas
Service Ribbon (3rd Award), Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Air
Assault Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge.
Bobby Ray is survived by his sons Bobby Rainey Jr. of Killeen, Texas, Christopher Rainey of
Killeen, Texas and a daughter Diamond Rainey of Germany; three grandchildren Lena
Florentino Rainey, Robin Alessio Rainey, and Jayden Luca Rainey of Germany; two sisters
Carolyn Rainey of Anderson, South Carolina and Gloria J. Scott of Pearland, Texas; one aunt
Doris Scott of Anderson, South Carolina; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded to heaven by his brothers John Rainey, Lawyer Rainey Jr. and a sister Helen
Rainey-Cowans; parents Lawyer and Bessie Scott-Rainey; maternal grandparents Ezekiel and
Jessie Smith-Scott; paternal grandparents Mr. McGowan and Gola Rainey; and a great-nephew
Jerry M. Mattison.
He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends
A Visitation at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home for Bobby will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home will be Monday, June 10, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 PM. A Graveside Service at Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Killeen, Texas will be on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
