Josephine "Jay" Pugliese, 90, of Coppell, Texas, passed peacefully away at home on Thursday, September 10th, 2020, with her family near her. She was the love of her husband's life and the center of a family who did not fail to gather at her home for holidays celebrated with wonderful food and bright conversation while surrounded by the beautiful furnishings she gathered throughout her life. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Born April 10, 1930 to Antonia and Biagio Girolamo in Buffalo, New York, Jay grew up in the city's Italian American neighborhoods. After high school graduation, she began a secretarial and banking career that continued until retirement in the 1990's. She married Vito "Dan" Pugliese in 1955 in a large ceremony. Together, they welcomed their son James and daughter Lenore. They continued to live in western New York until the blizzard of 1977 convinced them to move south. The family moved to Texas in 1978 to pursue their dreams. Other extended family members eventually also came to Texas and Jay became the bridge connecting the old world to the new and the undisputed matriarch of us all.
Jay is survived by Dan, her husband of 65 years, children and spouses James and Mary Pugliese of Coppell, TX, and Lenore and Ian McMackin of Mountain View, CA, and grandchildren Antonia Pugliese and Baz McMackin.
There are no services planned at this time. Your memories, photos, and wishes are welcome at Jay's website at https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/coppell-tx/josephine-pugliese-9353705
