John Edwin Hammond passed away suddenly on October 28, 2014. Johnny was born in Houston to Elizabeth and Jimmie Hammond on New Year’s Eve 1957. Johnny loved baseball and was an all-star catcher through his youth and later for Coach Dick Janse’s Sharpstown Apollos. In his adult life he enjoyed a good round of golf. Johnny began his career in the beer business in Texas later moving to Oklahoma. In June of 1995 Johnny returned to Dallas to run the On-Premise division of then, Miller of Dallas, now Andrews Distributing. As Vice President of On-Premise Sales, his dedicated leadership helped grow Andrews into one of the leading beer distributors in the nation. Johnny took tremendous pride in being a servant leader. Johnny was preceded in death by his mother and his youngest brother Carl Ray. Those left to cherish his life are his beautiful wife of 27 years Debbie Kremer Hammond, his beloved pets Minnie and Sam, his father Jimmie, his sisters Barbara and Debbie, his brothers Jimmie, Tom, and Jerry, as well as the entire Kremer family. Uncle Johnny was the kindest and funniest uncle his nieces and nephews could ever have, and his memory will live with them forever. Beyond relatives, Johnny leaves an entire community of friends, clients, vendors, neighbors, co-workers, parishioners, and anyone lucky enough to witness his kindness and dedication. His love of life was generously showered upon everyone he met. Visitation is on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 11 am to 1 pm at Restland-Coppell Funeral Home, 400 Freeport Parkway, Coppell, TX followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 pm at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 180 Samuel Blvd., Coppell, TX with burial immediately following at Rolling Oaks Cemetery, Coppell, Texas. Johnny and Debbie supported breast cancer awareness, and request any donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the American Heart Association.
