Don, born on January 28th, 1944, was a passionate Catholic Christian and lived to do good for others and was faithful to the tenants of the Church. He believed strongly in the following faith principles: Keep the Holy Sabbath; God loves you; Share with others; We are only here for a short while, Heaven is our goal for Eternity.
Don's other passions in life mostly involved sports. He said his favorite thing to do was hit a ball. He was quite good at it in its various forms. He started with baseball, where he eventually rose to play in the minor leagues with the Minnesota Twins. Then he moved to the highest levels of fast pitch softball and is in the Softball Hall of Fame. His love for hitting a ball found tennis, where he played almost every day (and often twice) for over 25 years. In the 80's, he and his doubles partner won the Texas State Championship in the Men’s over 40's. As many men do, Don picked up golf (which he had been saving) around age 50. From then to now he spent more days than not at Cowboys Golf Course where he enjoyed working, making friends, playing and practicing golf. He won the Marshal's Tournament at Cowboys both times he entered.
We will miss his passion for the things he loved. We will miss him and the way he tangibly showed us his love every day.
Don is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, Derek, Ann, and Kate; grandchildren, Coleman, Sam, Jacob, Emma, Justin, Kevin, Donnie, and Claire; and siblings Harlan, Jim, and Lisa.
