Veronica, known as, Olive, to all who loved her, was born in Georgetown, Guyana to her late parents, George and Marie Stoute. She was raised in Georgetown, Guyana and attended school there. At the age of 66, she came to the United States, where she and her family made their home in Amityville, New York. Olive met her future husband, Bertram Johnson at her father’s place of business. They married in 1955 at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception (Brickdam Cathedral). Veronica (Olive) and Bertram felt blessed with five beautiful daughters who they raised in Georgetown, Guyana.
Her daughters described Olive as an energetic and vibrant woman who enjoyed quality fashion; was an excellent dancer and an avid reader. She was an excellent and devoted mother who was always there for her children. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends found her loving and loyal. Veronica had a ‘unique’ sense of humor in which her girls can regale stories of funny and hysterical situations that landed Veronica and whoever she was with in stitches of laughter. She genuinely enjoyed life.
Veronica is predeceased by her beloved husband, Bertram; her parents and all of her siblings Joseph and George Stoute, Celestina Ferreira and Beatrice Reynolds.
Surviving is her beloved family – her daughters, Audrey Sukhdeo, Donna Johnson, Cheryl Johnson, Coleen Yarde (Roy) and Francien Williams; her grandchildren – Christine, Rajendra, Navindra, Lisa Ann, Darius and Jermaine; and her great-grandchildren – Julianna, Amira, Princess, Gavin and Gileesa.
