Mr. Raymond Berruti, 91, died on March 12, 2013, at his home in Copiague, New York. Mr. Berruti was born on November 19, 1921, to Ottavio and Josephine Berruti. He was a lifelong resident of Copiague.
He graduated from Amityville High School and began his college studies at SUNY Brockport. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces. During World War II, he served with the 19th Weather Squadron in North Africa, and received an honourable discharge in 1946.
After the war, Mr. Berruti completed his college education at Fordham University in the Bronx. He spent the majority of his career working as a chemist with Heterochemical in Valley Stream, New York.
He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church where he served as an usher. In recent years, he was a volunteer with the church's Outreach Program.
Mr. Berruti is survived by his devoted brother, Eugene and his wife, Jacqueline, of Lindenhurst; his beloved nieces and nephews John Berruti, Carole Berruti, Gail Campbell, Andrea Yablon, Jean Bentley and Jacqueline Ingoglia; along with numerous other friends and family members whom were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 15th, from 2-4:30 and 7-9:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 16th, at 9:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 1 Molloy Street, Copiague, New York 11726.
