A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 in the afternoon on Friday, February 10th at Plymouth Covenant Church. 4300 Vicksburg Ln N, Plymouth, MN 55446
He was born to Roopnarine John and Ruth Belldora Singh in Minnesota on August 21, 1959. He was married to Beth on July 1, 1989 for 25 years. Together, they had John-Paul, John-Mark, Jaana, John-Luke, and Juliana.
Paul came to Christ through the ministry of the Navigators in 1979. He received a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Grace Theological Seminary. As an adjunct professor, he taught Biblical Counseling at Northwestern University in St. Paul, MN. In 1989, he became a practicing psychologist, specializing in marriage therapy, family therapy, and pastoral care counseling. He authored the book, Rekindling Your Spirit: A Spiritual Journey into Personal Change, Intimacy, and Sexuality. He was the teaching pastor for the “Rekindling Your Spirit” conferences and other speaking engagements since 1996.
In 2003, Paul was diagnosed with a grade-four cancerous prostate tumor. His prognosis was 3-6 more months to live. Through this pain, Paul experienced the kindness, love, and power of God who gave him a modern-day miracle that healed his spirit, soul, and body.
Paul enjoyed cooking, downhill skiing, and riding his bicycle. He loved to camp, hike and canoe at the North Shore in Minnesota. Writing near the water was his favorite way to relax. He liked to be close enough to hear the crash of the waves. He enjoyed traveling to places such as Paris, France, Venice, Italy, Vancouver, and Santa Monica.
He is described as hospitable, charismatic, humorous, generous, and passionate. He had a big heart of compassion for the overlooked and hurting. As a counselor, he walked with people through heavy brokenness and pointed them to the ultimate healer who is Jesus Christ.
Paul is survived by his children John-Paul, John-Mark, Jaana, John-Luke (Ashley), and Juliana; his brothers Errol (Mimi), Earl (Lauraine), and John (Debbie); his mother Ruth; and former wife Beth.
