Myrna J. Kisrow

Myrna Joan was born on April 2nd, 1935 in Piggott Arkansas to Allen and Mary Brandon. Myrna was one of nine children. When she was in the third grade Myrna and her family moved to Memphis Tennessee. Growing up she was a typical tomboy, she loved to go on adventures and be outdoors. To earn money, she would babysit children in the community.

Myrna graduated from Memphis Tech high school in 1952. After graduating she got a job as a secretary for the United Services Organization (U.S.O). The U.S.O would hold dances for the service men. Just before Christmas in 1952. Myrna’s boss helped sneak her into one of those dances. It was there that she first met Leverne. He was standing with a group of his friends. Myrna and her friends approached them and visited for a few minutes and went their separate ways, not knowing if they would see each other again. After the holidays they happened to be at another dance it was then that they exchanged addresses. When Leverne would have a few days of leave he would visit Myrna. They would go to the park and have picnics or hang out at Myrna’s house. In the summer of 1953 Leverne proposed and they were married on September 4th, 1953 in Memphis Tennessee.

In 1956 they moved to Minnesota where they raised 6 children. Myrna was a full-time mother to not only her children but other children in the community. Myrna’s love for children showed through her dedication to the Sunday school and youth programs at her Church, Anoka Wesleyan. On most Sunday’s Myrna and Leverne would make serval stops to pick up people and children that couldn't make it to Church on their own. Myrna’s faith in God stayed strong and true all through her life.

Myrna was a social butterfly she loved to visit with people and if there was a reason for a party you can bet, she was the one hosting and planning the event. Over the years there were many birthdays, graduations, showers, weddings, and reunions that she made possible.

Myrna welcomed 32 grandchildren, to some that might be overwhelming but not to her. She loved to cuddle the babies and as the grandchildren grew up, she loved to take them on adventures. Throughout the years Myrna and Leverne would take the grandchildren on trips to Arkansas, on these trips she loved to stop on the way and take pictures of the scenery and land marks. She also liked smaller trips with the grandchildren like ice skating or going to the movies. On one occasion she may have gotten pulled over for speeding because a few of her grandchildren encourage her to go fast on a hilly road.

Myrna was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and as the years passed it became more difficult for her to do the active things, she loved but she never gave up and never complained. She also enjoyed scrabble and card games with family or eating popcorn and watching her favorite actor John Wayne. As the years passed you can imagine to Myrna’s delight more babies came, she welcomed 30 Great Grandchildren into her arms. She loved when they were first born, and she could cuddle them for hours. She loved to watch her grandbabies play and laugh. Even though she couldn’t get around as well she wanted, she was always a part of what was going on. She taught her grandchildren many things such as cooking, baking, gardening and the way of the Lord.

On March 31st, 2019 Myrna was surrounded by her loving devoted husband Leverne and their children, when she was called home by her Lord and Savior. Although there is great sadness, there is also joy that she is in her eternal resting place free of pain. There is a bible verse that stuck out with me as a reminder to us all during this time.

John 14:1-4

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

Myrna J. Kisrow, age 83 of Andover joined her heavenly Father on March 31, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her Loving Husband, LeVerne; six Children; many Grandchildren; Great-grandchildren and seven Siblings.
