Mary Jane A. Leitschuh, age 96, was born October 26, 1926, in Minneapolis to Nellie and Joseph Kaliszeski. She entered eternal life on Saturday, March 4th, while residing at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills (Johanna Shores).
Mary Jane was a kind, gentle and loving soul. She was very patient and had a grateful heart. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School. She met Victor J. Leitschuh and they married on October 12, 1946. They raised 10 amazing children and had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary Jane and her husband Vic enjoyed hosting family holidays, birthday parties and BBQs at Lake Johanna and Lake Josephine. She enjoyed family vacations to cabins at various lakes, rock hunting camping trips, trips to Duluth, Florida and Stillwater. She enjoyed volunteering at Sharing and Caring Hands and Catholic Charities when she was able. She enjoyed annual State Fair trips and was always up for shopping and lunch outings. She loved making popcorn on Saturday nights, strawberry malts, potato chips, pizza and Coca Cola. Mary Jane loved summer and having the warm sun on her face. She was an extremely talented artist and enjoyed drawing and painting.
Preceded in death by her husband, Victor Leitschuh; daughters, Susie Kromrey and Vicki Wilde; and great-grandson, Grant Leitschuh.
Survived by children, Steve (Ilene), Dan (Jan), Gary (Jody), Roger (Cindy), Chris (Debbie), Tim (Maria), Cheryl (Bill) Johnson, Karin (Dean) Haase; grandchildren, Patrick Kromrey, Mike Kromrey, Dale Kromrey, Jessie McGraw, Paul Wilde, Matthew Wilde, Stefan Leitschuh, Aaron Leitschuh, Tracy Rand, Terri Governor, Phil Leitschuh, Curt Leitschuh, Abbie Leitschuh, Rebecca Anderson, Ryan Leitschuh, Heidi Leitschuh, Megan Leitschuh, Evan Leitschuh, Luke Leitschuh, Katy Leitschuh, Brent Johnson, Jared Johnson, Lindsey Bergman; sister, Dolores Bakun; sons-in-law, Tony Kromrey and Dave Wilde; and many great-grandchildren. Mary Jane will be deeply missed by many.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 10:00 am with a visitation from 9:00-10:00am at Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills in the Fellowship Hall, 3200 Lake Johanna Blvd, Arden Hills, followed by a Christian burial at Fort Snelling at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mary Jane can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Presbyterian Homes of Arden Hills (Johanna Shores). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Leitschuh family.
