W.H. "Dick" Schaefer gently went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, August 18, 2011. Dick was one week short of his 80th birthday and a lifelong resident of Conroe. He was the grandson of Dr. W. N. and Fannie Hooper and the only child of J.H. and Zoula Fay "Lady" Hooper Schaefer. Dick was active in the administration of his family's business, The Dr. Hooper Oil and Royalty Company. Dick married his high school sweetheart, Ella Jeane Bird Schaefer in 1951. They spent 49 sweet and eventful years together until Ella Jeane's death in 2001. Dick and Ella Jeane were very involved and active in the family business. They were lifetime members of First Baptist Church where they taught and nurtured many sweet two year olds over the span of twenty years. They were also animal lovers and truly enjoyed their family dogs during the course of their lives together. Many thanks to all who helped make Dick's life after Ella Jeane's death so full and wonderful. To his caregivers, Kaye, Linda, Jamie, Raquel, Linda, Keke, we are extremely grateful for the patience and love you bestowed upon him to enrich his life in so many ways. To David and "his crew" and the Strozier family, thank you for your faithfulness. A special thanks to Jeff for being the son Dick never had.
