Trina Mae Rigby

Trina Mae Rigby, beloved mother, sister, aunt, wife, friend, and educator passed away from this life on October 20, 2013 in The Woodlands, Texas, at the age of 71. Trina, the daughter of Jennings and Theo Hebert, was born on September 16, 1942, in Houston, Texas. Trina attended the University of Houston, and began her teaching career at Furr High School in Houston in 1966. Trina married Joel Rigby in 1963. After the birth of their only child, Katie Scarlett Rigby, she started teaching at McCullough High School in 1977. At both high schools, she served as head of Student Council and took great pride in educating students and offering guidance that, for some, would serve a lifetime. By the late 1980s, Trina obtained her Master's Degree in Education from Sam Houston State University. During her 32 years of teaching (and beyond), Trina touched and impacted the lives of many of her students, family and friends included. Many consider her a second mother. In retirement, Trina took great enjoyment in sleeping in and having her schedule free from grueling school hours. She spent a lot of time with her family. She loved reading and always rushed to get the new James Patterson novel. She rearranged her schedule to catch her favorite T.V. programs: Monk, Frasier, and Law and Order. Anything on the History, Military, or Turner Classic Movie channels was worthy of watching. And of course, CNN was part of her daily diet to keep up on current events, which were also so important to her. She loved Nancy Grace, probably because they shared the same no-nonsense attitude. A die-hard Democrat in Republican Texas, she was always in a huff about right-wing extremists. The Obama family portrait hung next to her back door and she loved collecting Gone With The Wind memorabilia and anything related to John and Jackie Kennedy.

Trina's survivors include: her daughter Scarlett Rigby (husband Peter Magnotta); her sister Marjorie Fornell; brother in-law Peter Fornell; her nieces Tina Wohlgemuth (children Chelsea, Clifton, and Caleb) and Sherry Ashley (husband Steve Ashley and children Tegan and Jenna); and her nephew Darrell Fornell (child Birdy). All surviving relatives live in Spring, Texas, except her daughter and son-in-law who are of Brooklyn, New York. The family welcomes friends and admirers at a visitation on Thursday, October 24, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas, 77303. A funeral will be held at Cashner Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Dimmett, celebrant, on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy., Houston, Texas, 77039. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, or the American Cancer Society in Trina's name.
