Roger Craig White of Willis, Texas passed away peacefully at home, holding his wife’s hand on Monday March 20, 2023, at 75 years old. Craig was born in Fort Stockton, Texas on December 10, 1947, the second of three children born to Helen and Harvie White.
Craig began his military career at 17 in the Navy. This began his travels to Vietnam, parts of Europe, and across the United States. After his 4 years in service to the Navy he enlisted in The United States Coast Guard. He was a Special Agent for the Coastie’s during which time he was able to share his great love for his Country, helping to make it a safer place. He developed a love for Alaska while being stationed on Kodiak Island. While there he found one of his all-time favorite meals, Alaskan King Crab. A dish he ate often for his special birthday meal.
Upon retirement from the Coast Guard in Oklahoma City, he joined the civilian workforce in many different capacities. Some of the most notable positions he held in his civilian life were purchasing agent, merchandising and one of his favorite places of employment Hillman Nuts and Bolts. While in Oklahoma he was an active church member, and in the Knights of Columbus. Finally in 1992 Craig got to move home to Texas where he had wanted to be for many years. He was a true Cowboy, loved horses, rode broncs, and clowned at rodeos in addition to breeding and raising Paint horses.
The annual White family reunion in west Texas, where life events & stories were shared, was a cherished time for him. The 3rd week of July was a non-negotiable celebratory week for family. The karaoke, board games, puzzles, swimming and late-night poker sessions that might last until breakfast were always there to be enjoyed.
Craig leaves behind his loving wife Terrie of 36 years, sisters Gwen Ocker (and husband David) and Georgia Donohoe (and husband Dave), sister-in-law Pam Shaw (husband Burt) daughter Barbara Jo, sons Colby Lee (and Fiancée Brooke) and Raymond (and wife Shannon) , grandchildren Skye, Stephen, Erica, Cody, Connor, Ashton, Wyatt, and Aria, as well as many great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Arneta White and father, Harvie D. White, and his son, Eric Lee White.
He is now and will always be dearly missed!
