We are saddened to announce that Robbins ‘Duff’ Claypool, 80, of Conroe, TX. peacefully passed away on January 16th. Duff was born on January 12, 1939 in Bellaire, Texas to Robbins Marshall Claypool and Claire Blocker Claypool.
He graduated from Bellaire high school in 1957 and then went on to graduate in 1961 from Sam Houston, where he was a charter member of Sig Ep Fraternity. In that same year he was called up as a reservist in the US Army during the Berlin Crisis. After college he married Martha Diane Sanchez of Monroe, Louisiana. Duff and Diane eventually settled in New Orleans, Louisiana, where Duff served as president and owner of Gulf Tool Company until his retirement in 2005.
Duff was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wallace.
He is survived by his wife Diane, children Robert and Kevin Claypool, daughter-in-law Carol Claypool, grandchildren Claire Claypool, Kyle Claypool, and Marcela Ruiz. He is also survived by his sister Catherine “Honey“ and her husband Alvin Kutach; sister-in-law Bette Wheat and her husband Jerry; Sister in law Kaysey Sanchez; brother-in-law John Sanchez and his wife Nancy; sister-in-law Debby Smith and her husband Michael. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and countless friends.
A Funeral Service for Robbins will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 E White Oak Terrace, Conroe, Texas.
