Philip David Smith Sr., 76, was born on February 17, 1941 in Ada, Oklahoma and passed away on August 26, 2017 in Conroe, Texas. He lived in Ada, Oklahoma for 20 years, he then moved to Houston, Texas where he lived for 11 years before moving to Conroe, Texas. Philip was a Meat Cutter for 44 years and a member of Mims Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, W. J. Smith and Thelma Smith; sister, Mary Moreno; brother, Dennis Smith and granddaughter, Allie Smith. Philip is survived by his wife, Billie June Smith; sons, Philip David Smith Jr. and his wife Roxanne, Darwin Dwayne Smith and his wife Denise Munnerlyn ; daughter, Tawana Dee Salinas and her husband Enrique; grandchildren, Candis Kuykendall, Monica Smith, Joshua Salinas, Jessalin Salinas, Joel Salinas and Jase Salinas; sister, Judy Walters and husband Keith; great grandson, Richard Reep; step grandsons, David Abney and Daniel Abney; step great grandchildren, Zoe Abney, Gabriel Abney and Michael Abney. Philip was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. One of his greatest joys was to be there for his grandchildren each day as they stepped off the school bus, and to help them with their homework. He enjoyed his weekly domino games with his friend and partner, Dave Gabler. Throughout his lifetime, he achieved great joy and satisfaction through carpentry as he built several homes for his family. Philip also had a love of classic cars and working in the yard and garden. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, Texas. A graveside service will be on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00am in Garden Park Cemetery.
