   We were shocked and sad to here of the death of Pat. He was my second cousin.His grandfather was Thomas Dempsey who emigrated from Ireland in 1860s.I went to visit Pat and Shirley in 2005 and had a fantastic holiday.He was great fun and a most pleasant and gentle man.Great craic as we say in Ireland. They had planned to visit us in Ireland but alas it was not to happen.I know he is now  smiling down on us from above and remembering the Johnny Cash song:Forty Shades of Green .Love to Shirley and family on their sad loss. I met Pat 36 years ago when I arrived in the FHWA office in Springfield. He was a family friend, a fellow Knights of Columbus, and a great fishing partner. We even had a "few beers" together over the years.
All our prayers and best wishes go to the entire Connery family.

Dear Aunt Shirley and Connery Cousins,
I was so sad to hear of Uncle Pat's passing and wanted you to know I was thinking of you.  We have some fond memories of family time spent at the family farm and trips to Colorado -- I'll never forget how white Uncle Pat's knuckles were after driving in the Colorado mountains on one trip!  :) Uncle Pat was brave enough to take me to the driving range one time when I was visiting to hit some golf balls - he didn't realize what he was in for.  I'm a terrible golfer!! I'll never forget that laugh or smile.   Love and hugs to all.

Dear Aunt Shirley and Connery Cousins,
We were sad to hear about Uncle Pat. We are thinking of all of you and are so aware of the fragile nature of life. How precious are the memories that we all share. Of Thanksgiving and Christmas times on the farm, of good times shared together. We remember Pat who provided that needed Irish smile to all those stubborn Germans. There is nothing like family.

Shirley and family,

My wife Diane and I were so sorry to learn of Pat's passing.  We met him at Carriage Inn where my Mother lives.  He was such a delightful man and always thinking of others and making them laugh.  I am glad we had the opportunity to get to know him.  Our lives are richer for it.  Our deepest sympathy to you all.  Heaven will be a better place for having Pat there.

Shirley, I was very sad to read of Patrick's passing.  There are three main things I remember about him:  His love of his family; He always had a major summer project going on at the house; and He laughed harder than anyone at his own jokes (what an infectious laugh he had).  I was fortunate to be his secretary at FHWA District D in Springfield, along with Al, Ernie, and Sam.  Patrick and I would laugh often at the amount of time I spent doing his clerical work for The Pony League (Ol' Pone'), which I enjoyed much more than the highway work.  It's easy to imagine his days filled now fishing out of his dream fishing boat in a lake where the fish practically jump into the boat (and not the Asian Carp), as only Heaven can be.  My deepest sympathy to you and the children.  I know he will be missed.
