Patricia Lee Quillen

Patricia Lee White Quillen was born on May 9, 1931 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to James and Greta White and left this life in her home in Conroe, Texas, at the age of 91, for eternal life in Heaven on February 2, 2023. Patricia graduated high school in 1949 in Wewoka, Oklahoma; she also spent part of her youth in New Lima, Oklahoma and Seminole, Oklahoma. She graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Baylor University where she also met the love of her life the first week of Freshman Orientation. Patricia and Lonnie Easton Quillen, Jr. were married on August 27, 1950 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. Three sons were born to Patricia and Lonnie: Rodney Sterling Quillen, Kevin Leigh Quillen, and Shannon Kirk Quillen.

Patricia devoted several years to the art of teaching in Fort Worth, Texas, Pennington Gap, Virginia, and Roanoke, Virginia. She devoted her life to serving as “the pastor’s wife” with Lonnie in pastorates including Waco, Texas, Frisco, Texas, Pennington Gap, Virginia, Newport News, Virginia, Roanoke, Virginia, Cleveland, Texas, and Magnolia, Texas. Patricia and Lonnie served as missionaries for the Baptist Foreign Mission Board both in Botswana, Africa and Malawi, Africa.

Patricia was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Conroe until such time as her health required her to be home bound. Patricia had a beautiful voice and a great love of music. She also was an enthusiastic equestrian. Patricia served the American Red Cross in multiple capacities during her life as life guard, teaching lifesaving skills, and giving swimming lessons.

Patricia was predeceased by her parents, James and Greta White; son, Rodney Sterling Quillen, sister, Elizabeth Sterline White McCoy, and grandson, Joshua Ross Quillen.

Patricia is survived by sons Kevin Leigh Quillen and Shannon Kirk Quillen; brother James Wheeler White, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and multiple additional relatives and friends, Patricia will be greatly missed by the many that knew and loved her.

A graveside gathering honoring Patricia’s life will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Garden Park Cemetery located on Teas Road (Hyw 3038), beside Cashner Funeral Home.
