Martha Ruth Peck Gross passed away on September 25, 2018, in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born on August 20, 1942, in Houston, Texas to Charles Clifton and Nellie Mullenax Peck. Martha was 6 years old when her mother passed away and she went to live with her paternal grandmother, Maude Peck. After the death of her grandmother, Martha lived with her aunt and uncle, Moon and Willie Mae Mullins. Martha retired from Shell Oil Company and was an avid bridge player. She loved her cats and supported The Humane Society. Martha enjoyed country living, fishing with her grandkids and camping at Galveston State Park with her children. She is survived by son, Charles Westmoreland of The Woodlands; daughter, Jeanne Zenner of Fredericksburg, Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Blake Zenner and wife Christy and daughter Marley, Ryan Zenner and son Parker, and Gracie Zenner, all of Fredericksburg, Texas; and Granddaughter Lacey Zenner of Austin, Texas. Martha is also survived by her beloved cats: Baby Cakes and Dingles. The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Forum, her physician, Dr. Cos, and Martha’s best friend of 47 years, Gayla Martin, for the dedicated care and kindnesses shown to our mother. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 11:00am in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Merle Blado officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in Siloam Cemetery, in Leon County at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Martha requested that memorials be made to your local Humane Society or SPCA.
