She was born in Comfort, Texas to Edwin Leeder and Eleanor Stahl on a cattle and peanut farm. After six months they divorced and was raised on a small farm in Comfort, Texas by her Mother and her disabled grandmother. She attended a one room schoolhouse until the sixth grade. She was milking cows at six years old and loved squirrel hunting with her dog, Queenie. As a young woman she worked in Colorado at the Antler Hotel as a waitress. She was a beautiful, hard working woman who caught the eye of the love of her life, Wayne Nelson Young, who had served in World War II in the Navy, surviving the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was in for all five years of the war. He returned home as a war hero in New Braunfels, Texas. They fell in love and married at the courthouse in New Braunfels, Texas. She was a housewife raising their six children while Wayne worked at the Cotton Mill. When it closed, they moved to California where they had their seventh child. He found work in California at Hughes Aircraft. Life was challenging, but good as faith in God was the center of their home. In 1968 Wayne was working as the head custodian at the University of Irvine and had a massive heart attack and died. As a result Mom developed Bi-polar. She went back to work to help support her family. This was a challenging time for the family but she kept her family together. She encouraged us to be educated and even earned her GED. Eventually Mom chose to get on medication which brought more stability to her life. She never married again and continued to live in California. As she aged, her children had her live with them and took turns to care for her. She lived in Private Care Homes in California and eventually in Conroe, Texas where she passed away peacefully and surrounded by her five daughters. She loved the Lord, her family and was a strong prayer warrior. We will greatly miss her. She taught us to fight for life and live it to the fullest. She fought dementia and rheumatoid arthritis which slowed her down at the end. We learned forgiveness through her example. Her favorite Bible Verse was (Philippians 4:13) "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
