Born in 1939 in Anthony, Kansas to Harold and Lucy (Seeds) Masoner, Linda had fond memories of her early years growing up in Enid, Oklahoma and out on the family farm in Breckenridge, with her two younger brothers, Jim and Russell. Linda graduated from Kremlin High School in 1957, and then she attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. After graduation, she was employed by George E. Failing Co. in Enid. Later in her career she worked many years in healthcare for the State of Texas.
Linda met Jim Stricker in Enid in 1962, and they soon fell in love and were married on March 16, 1963 in Biloxi, Mississippi, where Jim was stationed in the United States Air Force at the time. Together they raised their three sons, Troy, Tad and Travis, largely in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Lake Dallas, Texas. Linda loved to go on family trips, where she was known to waterski with the boys on the lake, and snow ski on the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado – all while trying to keep her boys in one piece.
Linda was a devoted fan of the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University, to the extent that she named her beloved dogs Boomer and Sooner. She was also an avid music lover, with a special place in her heart for Elvis and country music. She and Jim danced many a Texas two-step and country waltz together over the years.
Linda loved her family above all else. She was a strong, loving, devoted mother to her three sons. She was the ultimate grandmother to her four grandchildren, who loved to spend time with their beloved Grandma, eating her delicious cooking, playing rousing family card games, and just hanging out. She was always in attendance at the grandkids’ sporting events, recitals, graduations, and other important events. She filled our hearts with the warmth of her hugs and her beautiful smile. We will carry her in our hearts until we meet again “…In the sweet by and by; on that beautiful shore.”
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband Jim Stricker. They were blessed to share much joy and many adventures during their sixty-year marriage. Some of their most cherished memories are of time spent together with family, and the simple pleasures of daily life together.
Linda was the loving mother of Troy Stricker, Tad Stricker, and Travis Stricker and his wife Nancy.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Abigail Stricker, Nicholas Stricker and his wife Natalie, Grace Stricker and Joseph Stricker. And she leaves her dear brothers, Jim Masoner and his wife Sue, and Russell Campbell. She also leaves behind beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Lucy (Seeds) Masoner, and her stepfather Kenneth Campbell.
A private graveside service will be held in Conroe, Texas in the coming months. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Metcalf Funeral Directors of Conroe, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Linda’s name to the charity of your choice.
