Kenneth Larry Davis, was born on October 13, 1945, in Alger, Ohio, to Stella Howard and Kenneth Davis. The youngest of 11 children, his childhood was spent, working the seasonal fruit orchards of Michigan with his family. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, but above all, he was a follower of Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Martha Lynn, his sisters, Nora and Geraldine; his son, Jared, wife Trisha, their daughters Bree and Gage; his daughter Jennifer Hall, husband, Randy, their children Laney, Faith, Alanna, Camden, and Justice. Two step sons also survive, Blair Jenkins and wife Jen and his daughter Ashley Scott, Jay Jenkins and wife Kathryn, and their children Madison, Sydney, and Jaxson. Many dear nieces and nephews also mourn his loss.
He was a graduate of Southern Bible College, Houston, Texas, and served many churches in Ohio and Michigan during his early ministry. In later years, he moved back to the Houston area where he worked for Humble Oil and Ford Motor Credit. And then, he met Martha! They were married on December 20, 1986, at Conroe’s First Baptist Church. The two of them continued to minister to area churches, performed on The Crighton stage, and were often invited to entertain for various organizations in the Conroe area. Larry was ordained by the Southern Baptist Convention on April 1, 2001, commissioned by the historic Anderson Baptist Church, Anderson, Texas, where he served as Pastor. Other churches in his later ministry include Forestwood Baptist, Southside Baptist, April Sound, and more recently, as Interim Pastor, FBC, Groceville.
He was a talented entertainer, and often thrilled the ladies when performing as Elvis. Gifted as an actor, his theater credits at the Crighton Theatre include starring roles in Hello Dolly, Music Man, Cheaper By the Dozen, Big River, Smoke on the Mountain, Annie, The Sound of Music and more recently, at the Owen Theater, supporting roles in Guys and Dolls, and Bye Bye Birdie. But most of all, he loved singing with Martha, hand in hand, at church. His wonderful smile and warm hugs will be sorely missed. If you so desire, please make memorial contributions to April Sound Church, FBC Groceville, or The Crighton Theatre Foundation.
Celebration services are Saturday December 1, 2018 at 11am in the April Sound Church, 67 ½ April Wind Drive S. Montgomery Texas 77356.
