Funeral services for John Benjamin Aderhold will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:00AM at the First United Methodist Church of Conroe with Rev. Jerry Neff officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00PM in Memory Gardens Cemetery, 3098 Hwy 69 N., Nederland, TX. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. John B. Aderhold, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Jeanette Aderhold. An adventurous man full of passion for life and with a knack for survival, he was a devoted father and husband. John was born in Jacksonville, Florida to his parents Frederick and Theresa Higginbotham Aderhold. He lived in childhood in Port Arthur, Texas and owned his own exterminations company in the area for 19 years. He served proudly in World War II for four years in the United States Navy and was a “frogman” the grandfather of the Navy Seals. He was awarded such merits as the Navy Cross, Purple Heart, Asia Pacific Cross, Bronze Star and two Presidential accommodations. He served in the Pacific in the Battle of the Philippines and many more battles. A graduate of Landig College of Mortuary Science on November 21, 1947, he used his skills to help in the explosion in Texas City. John served in the United States Army for four years after WWII training Special Forces as a drill sergeant. He served for a while in the merchant marines traveling all around the world. Once again he served his country serving as a Naval Intelligence officer working with the CIA traveling to foreign countries. Briefly he retired, devoting all his time and money to raising frogs for scientific research which were implemental in the invention of the heart pacemaker. John led a full life as an exterminator owning Doc Fog in Groves, Texas and J&J’s Termite and Pest Control in Carthage, Texas and Conroe, Texas. John was a treasure hunter and an inventor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Conroe. John was the father of two daughters, Gale Veazey and her husband, Will of Conroe, TX and Kathey Beard and her husband, Jim of College Station, TX. He was the grandfather of three grandchildren, Brenton Troy Veazey and wife, Pauline of Conroe, TX, Tyson Slate Veazey of Conroe, TX and Amanda Jeanette Beard of College Station, TX. His great grandchildren are Lauren E. Benson of Austin, TX, Nicholas Brandon Veazey of Conroe, TX and Bryce Thomas Paul Veazey of Conroe, TX. John leaves behind many cousins and dear friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Odyssey Hospice for all their loving care of John.
