She was born on July 19, 1937 in Kingston, NY at Benedictine Hospital, where she would eventually give birth to her six children. She was raised in Glenerie, NY on the “Old Homestead,” built in 1728 and later cannonballed during the Revolutionary War.
Jeanine graduated from Saugerties High School in 1954 before going on to nursing school to become an RN. While there, she met her beloved Bob LaWare, a ship’s officer home on vacation from a year at sea and soon eloped to NYC, where the couple was married at the Church of St. Sebastian. After 18 years raising her children in Ruby, NY, they relocated to The Woodlands, Texas, where they lived until retiring to Seven Coves on Lake Conroe in 1996.
Jeanine’s love of Jesus was her guiding light throughout her life. Over the years, she sang in three church choirs, facilitated two small church communities, served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, and spent three years as a prison chaplain. Her greatest love was the Sacred Heart Christmas basket program, where she, along with hundreds of parishioners, worked together to fill boxes of food and gifts for our brothers and sisters.
The wonders of God’s creation were always a fascination for her. She took great joy digging in the dirt, watching everything grow, and learning the habits and migratory patterns of the beautiful waterfowl — seeing how God works in all things, especially the little ones that we take for granted.
Bob and Jeanine were married 46 ½ years when he was taken to his heavenly home.
She is predeceased by three brothers: Ted, Bob and Gerry, and survived by her brother Jim; her six children: Bernadette (Lee), Frances (David), Matthew (Kaendi), Mary, James (Kim), and Paul (Vanessa); twelve grandchildren: Anna, Sarah, Claire, Mary Rose, Samantha, Birgitte, Jack, Eric, Ava, Ruby, Juliette, and Sophia; and two great-granddaughters: Bernadette Lee and Noah.
A visitation for Jeanine will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A rosary will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 6:30 PM. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 N Frazier St, Conroe, Texas 77301.
Jeanine will be laid to rest in Forest Park -The Woodlands Cemetery at 18000 I-45, The Woodlands, TX 77384 at 1:00 PM.
