James graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and began work at General Tire where he met the love of his life, Lois Hurr. They married on February 6, 1949 and were married for 62 years upon her passing.
James retired from Shell Chemical Company after a long career there.
James was a member of Cedar Bayou Grace Methodist Church and was a devout Christian. He was a Life member of Goose Creek Lodge # 1192 where he was a Past Master and secretary of the lodge for many years. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite Bodies. James was also a member of Cedar Bayou chapter # 11 of the Eastern Star and was a Past Patron of that body. James and Lois were very active in all the above organizations and loved all the friends that they made there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois Fulton, sister Janelle Goodall, brothers Bobby and Bill Fulton. He is survived by his daughter Ginger Burnside and her husband R.D. and son Dr. Michael Fulton and his wife Cindy, brother Charles Fulton, grandchildren; Kristin Charter ( Marc ), Lindsey Lopez (David), Ben Burnside (Leah), and Haley Burnside, great grandchildren; Cole Charter, Toby Charter, Avery Lopez, and Junia Burnside.
His family will receive friends on Friday October 4, 2024, 9:00 AM till 10:00 AM at the Earthman Baytown Chapel, 3919 Garth Rd., Baytown, Texas 77521. The funeral service is scheduled at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sterling-White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd., Highlands, Texas 77562.
