We regret to inform everyone of the passing of James Eugene Dunegan, Sr. He was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 28, 1934 and lost his courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and COPD on December 23, 2014. He died peacefully in his home in the loving arms of his wife Margie Dunegan with his daughter Debora Rogers, son John Dunegan, brother Thomas Dunegan and sister Patricia Dunegan by his side in The Woodlands, Texas. Jim fought to live with dignity and grace praying for any and all who needed his prayers as a complete testimony to his confidence and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his father George Handley Dunegan, mother Leotha Margaret Keefe, brother Garold Lee Dunegan, sister Marjorie Ann Dunegan, and two great grandchildren Christian Lucas Harvey and Marcus Ryan Harvey. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margarette Ceceil Lemberg Dunegan (Margie), son James Eugene Dunegan Jr., daughter Cynthia Lynn Dunegan, son David Michael Dunegan, son John Daniel Dunegan, daughter Debora Marie Rogers and daughter Cristina Diana Belcher. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren with solid guidance in faith, integrity, empathy and love. Jim traveled, played golf and worked around the world in places including: New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Argentina, Libya, Indonesia, California, Oklahoma, Columbia, Turkey, Russia, Alaska, and Iraq. Before he retired he had worked for L.G. Harper Construction, Core Lab, as a Professor’s Assistant at The University of Oklahoma and then for Tennessee Gas Transmission Company, Tenneco Oil, Tenneco Argentina, Esso Standard Libya, Exxon, Huffington, Inc., Texas Eastern, Williams Brother Engineering Company, Ashland Oil Company, Fluor Daniel and Flour Daniel TRS. After he retired, he worked on the Board of Directors for the Marion County Literacy Council; volunteered for Hospice of Ocala, Florida and the Retired Engineer Organization and was a member of the Royal Oaks Men’s Golf Association in Ocala, Florida. A celebration of life service will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s of Padua, 7801 Bay Branch Drive, The Woodlands, Texas 77382. The inurnment of cremains will be at Garden Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303 (936-756-2126). His ashes will rest in one of the side by side niches #16 and #17. His wife, Margie will be placed next to him when God calls her home.
