Jamal was born on August 27, 1956 to Anton Nicola Kharoufeh and Maza Hanna Kharoufeh in Bethlehem, Palestine. He was one of six children. He traveled to the United States at age 21 and went straight to work, learning English and saving up a small sum to pursue higher education. He attended Cleveland State University, where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering in 1984.
He met and married his wife Karla after a short courtship. They grew their family while living in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Together they are the proud parents of three children: Anton, Susy, and Karla. Jamal moved his family to Texas in 2001.
Together, Jamal and Karla opened their store Oil & Vinegar in the Woodlands Mall in 2005. Over the years, their friendly and warm demeanor has welcomed many and turned their shop into a local institution.
Preceded in death by his father Anton, Jamal is survived by his wife Karla, his mother Maza, his three children Anton, Susy, and Karla, and his five siblings: George, Elias, Nicola, Adel, and Heam.
A visitation for Jamal will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, Texas 77303. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Anthony the Great Church, 7202 FM 2920, Spring, Texas 77379 with entombment to follow in Garden Park Mausoleum.
