Helen Bleier, loving wife and mother, died peacefully in her chair on Thursday, July 9 in Montgomery, Texas at 87 years old. Born August 8, 1932 in Rochester, New York, she is survived by her son, Michael Bleier, his wife Susan Wood Bleier, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Helen attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Nazareth Academy before marrying her husband, Gerard Bleier, on November 29, 1956. They had their only child, Michael, on February 19, 1958 and Helen joyfully acted as a stay-at-home Mom helping with schoolwork, providing positive encouragement, baking cookies and maintaining the home until her son went away to college. A son could not ask for a better Mother. She next worked 25 years as a nurse’s aid at St. Ann’s Nursing Home giving care and love to the aging residents. Her husband passed away on May 21, 2007 and she stayed in their only home in Rochester until moving to Texas in 2018 to live with her son and his wife.
She loved gardening, feeding the birds, and being a mother. Her strong Catholic faith was the foundation for her life and praying the rosary each day gave her an opportunity to ask God to help her family and those in need. She always believed this life was only the entrée into an eternal life in heaven. She will be missed by her family on Earth but welcomed by family and friends in heaven for a joyous reunion.
A Memorial Service will be held in Rochester, New York once the Covid-19 virus safely allows for public gathering.
