Harold Humphrey was born near Huntsville, Texas to Ozella and Perry Humphrey. He grew up in his hometown of Conroe, attending Conroe High School. Harold served as class president of his senior year (1945) and he has always had admiration for the classmates who chose him to this prestigious role. Additionally, he was captain of the football team, and co-captain of the basketball team. Harold went on to attend Texas A&M, graduating with a BBA degree, class of 1950.
After college, Harold served a tour of duty in the Army, both in Japan and Okinawa. Harold went on to establish his career in the Insurance industry, initially as a salesman for Dorbandt Agency, in Conroe, and later joining Aetna Insurance and where he eventually, as Marketing Manager, retired in 1989.
In his spare time, Harold enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, traveling and family activities.
Harold was married to Gloria Ann White for 47 years, until her untimely death in 1999. He then married Maynel Foster in 2003 and enjoyed 17 years with her, until her passing in October 2020.
Harold is survived by sons Jeffrey Humphrey and wife, Jerri; Christopher Humphrey and wife, Timaree; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, father, stepfather Joe Allen Traylor, son Michael Humphrey, and sister, Betty Joyce Baker.
A visitation for Harold will be held Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conore, Texas 77304. A graveside service will occur Monday, December 30, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
Harold will be laid to rest in Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
