Gertrude Morton Metzler

Gertrude Morton Metzler, 90, of Willis, Texas, passed away on September 6, 2024 at Carriage Inn Memory Care – Katy, Texas. She was born August 13, 1934 in Palestine, Texas to Thomas Jefferson and Pearline (Thomas) Morton.

She attended Slocum Elementary School in Slocum Texas, graduated in 1952 from Palestine High School in Palestine, Texas. She worked as a Courtesy Booth Customer Service Representative with The Kroger Co. She enjoyed country western dancing, traveling the USA, gardening, crocheting and many casino trips with countless friends.

Gertrude is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 48 years Albert L Metzler, 3 brothers Alvin Morton, Joe Weldon Morton, Garland Morton. 2 Sisters Frances Morton Evans and Carol Morton Johns. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Tippen, daughter Brenda Kay Wright and husband Dwayne. Son Jimmy Ray Pearson and wife Sheila. 5 Grandchildren Angela Draut and husband Doug, Joey Sacco and wife Mary, Vincent Sacco, Justin Pearson and wife Shoshana and James Pearson.12 Great Grandchildren Avery Draut, Abigail Draut, Aaron Draut, Julianna Sacco, Claire Sacco, Anthony Sacco, Ezrial Pearson, Juliette Pearson, Austin Pearson, Jack Pearson, Guinevere Pearson and Ava Pearson.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to all the staff at Carriage Inn - Katy and to the Hospice Staff at AccentCare for their care in making sure our mother was comfortable during her stay at Carriage Inn Katy. We are very grateful to each one who supported us, guided us and helped us through this difficult journey with our mother.

A funeral service will occur Friday, September 13, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM with visitation one hour prior to service, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303. Graveside will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
