A proud veteran, Duane entered the United States Air Force after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of North Texas where he met his wife, Judith. As an active member of the ROTC, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant and began pilot training. He served in the Air Force for 23 years, and later transitioned into a career as a corporate pilot with Dow Chemical, where he worked for 20 years before retiring.
Duane was a man of many talents and passions. In addition to his aviation career, he was a skilled auto mechanic, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on their many trips across the United States. His love of life and adventurous spirit touched the lives of everyone around him.
He is preceded in death by his firstborn son, Michael Hawk. Duane is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Judith Hawk; his two sons, Robert and Greg Hawk; as well as seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. His legacy of love, dedication, and service will live on in all who knew him.
A funeral service for Duane will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Road, Conroe, TX 77303.
Duane will be laid to rest in the Houston National Cemetery.
