Funeral services for Clayton Todd will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 10:00am at First Baptist Church of Willis with Bro J.V. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Shiro Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Clayton was born January 28, 1931 in Navasota, Texas to Clayton and Nita Todd and passed away February 4, 2013 in Conroe, Texas. Clayton served our country in the United States Air Force. Clayton graduated from Shepherd High School in 1947 and went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education in 1962. At 19 yrs of age, he enjoyed his first year of teaching 18 year old seniors. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Willis, where he served as a deacon and youth Sunday school teacher and music director. He also loved sports and football. Clayton was a past superintendent and football coach for North Zulch ISD and Willis ISD. He was also a previous principal and football coach at Montgomery ISD and Shepherd ISD. Clayton had a passion for educating children; especially those who were in their last years of school and embellishing them with tools and wisdom to take with them into the future so each could mature into productive individuals. He loved coaching football playing golf, good music and poetry. Clayton and his wife were the founders and owners of Todd’s School of Merit, which they ran for 15 years. When retirement was not as much fun as some might think, Clayton and Jean opened the Lighthouse School of Excellence, which has been in operation for the past 10 years. Clayton is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jean Todd; sons, Mark Todd and wife Peggy, Kendall Todd and wife Stella and Toby Todd and wife Samantha; grandchildren, Tara Steward and husband Drew, Cynda Parish and husband Desergio and Callaham Todd and wife Meagan, Kyle Todd and wife Stacey, Clay Todd, Annye Todd, Kirt Todd, Callie Todd and Colton Todd; great grandchildren, Andie Lynn Steward, Kason Todd and Kannon Todd; sister, Valera Philp. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive, as well as, a host of loving friends.
