Funeral services for Clair Lawrence Weiss, age 80, of Huntsville will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Reverend Mark Pickett officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and interment will immediately follow the service in Garden Park Cemetery.
Clair was born in a farmhouse near Greene, Iowa to Arthur and Ella Ruth Weiss and passed away on July 20, 2011 in Huntsville, Texas. His entire growing up days were spent in and around Greene. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Hamilton Business College. At the start of the Korean War, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and served in Korea from the fall of 1951 to the spring of 1953. His entire adult life was spent in the funeral industry and since 1972 has served in marketing and merchandising positions for five funeral consolidators.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Weiss; children, Julie Weiss of Des Moines, Iowa, Melissa Seivert and husband Mark of Granger, Iowa and Mark Weiss and wife Karen of Granger, Iowa. In addition, he is survived by Marcia’s three children, Richard Hill and wife Diane of Weatherford, Texas, Russell Hill and wife Nancy of Brenham and Robin Hairell and husband Russell of New Waverly; one brother, Melvin Weiss and wife Jenny of Charles City, Iowa; and twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
