From the age of 16, Bobby worked tirelessly as a machinist, and he retired from Cameron Iron Works. He married his highschool sweetheart, Amelda, in 1959. His family remembers him as an inventor and a hardworking man. He had a passion for building and rebuilding machines, motors, houses, boats – anything that required mending or making. Bobby enjoyed the forest, and he hunted and fished at every opportunity. He loved his family (and his dogs) with fierce loyalty. He will be missed by many.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 65 years, Amelda Sloan; his sister, Martha Anne Bates; his children, Karri Sloan-Neves and Mary Jane Vaught; his nephews, Jimmy Sloan, Mark Elam, and James Elam; his nieces, Kathy Messer, Charlotte Caso, and Suzy Kamman; his grandchildren, Deke Neves, Drew Neves, Nicole Neves, Kaci Willms, Cullen Vaught, and Sloan Vaught; and his six great grandchildren. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Margaret Sloan; his brother, Jimmy Sloan; and his life-long friend, Clarence Vaughn.
