Born July 2, 1928 in Lynn, MA, he was the son of the late W. P. Devlin and Evelyn Deering Devlin. Bill proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters and a grandson, Alex Devlin.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Jackie Huffman Devlin, of the home; two sons, Jack Devlin and his wife, Donna, of Claremont and Colin Devlin and his wife, Kathy, of Statesville; daughter, Teal Devlin of Hickory; two grandchildren, Brett Devlin of Hickory, Candace Robinson and her husband Michael, of Conover; three great-grandsons, Kevin, Kaden and Redek Robinson; brother-in-law, Clyde Toby Huffman and wife, Loretta, of Conover; two step-daughters, Pam Little and husband, Gene, of Claremont, Debbie Shuford and husband, Joel, of Claremont; two step-granddaughters, Tara Shuford of Claremont, Megan Shuford of Wilmington, NC; step-great-granddaughter, Layla Jo of Wilmington, NC; brother, Robert B. Devlin and sister, Patricia Pasquale of Peabody, MA.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where his Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Gary Haddock officiating. Burial will follow at Claremont City Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
