William "Red" Harold Bailey

William Harold Bailey, age 70, of Claremont, NC, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at his residence. He was born May 5, 1949, in Rutherford County, the son of the late Pharis Matthew Bailey and Annie Florence Whiteside Bailey.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his son, William Bailey, Jr.; infant granddaughter, Alexandra Jenice Schmidt; two brothers, Adin Lynch Bailey and Leon Matthews Bailey; three sisters, Elizabeth Martin, Annie Gertrude Maney, and Emma Carolyn Cooper.

William was an auto mechanic who loved his church, music, playing his guitar, working outside, and caring for his chickens.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Violet Clark of the home; daughters, Catherine Schmidt and husband, George, and Lavonne Bowen and friend, Kevin Stacey; brother, Samuel Hix Bailey; sister, Janis Mae McSwain; 8 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Joy Baptist Church, 4015 Herman Sipe Rd., Conover, NC with Rev. Tim Shook officiating. Burial will follow at Harris First Baptist Church, 127 Hogan Rd., Forest City, NC.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
