Born December 13, 1925 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Daniel Logan Workman and Lula Yancey Workman. Glenn was a WWII veteran of the US Navy and served in the Pacific Theater. He was owner of Workman Automotive Service in Hickory for 25 years and enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical. Glenn was an avid runner and participated in 5k and 10k races. In his spare time, he also enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Cochrane Workman; brother, Howard Workman; and both sisters, Edna Gardner and Edith Littlefield.
Glenn is survived by a son, Richard Workman and wife, Helen; daughter, Diane Halper and husband, Warren; brother, Willard Workman and wife, Dorothy; grandchildren, Taylor Workman, Claudia Workman, Jonathan Halper and wife, Julia, Adrienne Benjamin and husband, Bobby; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Workman, Kelsey Workman, Madyson Johnson, Ellys Henry, Luc Benjamin, and Noelle Benjamin.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover with Chaplain Paul Birkedal officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
