Charles (Charlie) Allen Hartsoe, born November 10, 1947 to the late Hubert Lee and Helen Mae Deal Hartsoe, passed away peacefully at his home with the love of family at his bedside Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Charlie loved life and people and his life was filled with love from people. He was an avid golfer a gym enthusiast, affectionately known as the “Mayor of the Perfect Workout Gym”. Charlie lived each day with “all about attitude” as the main focus. He had a contagious and positive outlook on life and prided himself as being the most optimistic man in the world, and he was. Charlie possessed a smile that would light up a room, and gave hugs that cured any ill. Charlie loved his dog Daisy and enjoyed the walks they would take down the driveway and the happiness it brought to him as she ran through the fields and into the woods. He is so loved and will be missed by so many…he already is.
Charlie was a Vietnam Veteran serving as an Army Ranger in 1968-1969 where he received three Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for his courageous commitment.
Charlie retired after selling his business, “Charlie’s Gym in Newton”. He enjoyed working out three days a week with his Uncle Ken Hartsoe, his source of inspiration. He played with a golf group at Rock Barn on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The comradery between men and friends he cherished deeply.
Carrying on his memory and optimism is his wife of 22 years, Wendi Hill Hartsoe.
Also left to cherish his memories are sons, Charles (Wendy) Hartsoe Jr., Eric (Phyllis) Speagle, Scott (Sharon) Hartsoe and Kelly (Erin) Hartsoe; daughters, Amber (Jason) Minton, Jamie (Jessie) Smark and Emily Kay Beebe; brothers, Carroll (Candy )Hartsoe and Donald Hartsoe. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke, Jerod, Gage, Shelby, Cole, Zoe, Davie, Tyler, Emma and Haileigh; and special Uncle Kenneth Hartsoe.
