Bobby Stuart Bondurant, age 91, of Newton, NC, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton, NC. Born January 26, 1927, he was the son of the late John Banner Bondurant and Annie Elizabeth Stuart Bondurant.
Bobby was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Newton, NC, and was a US Army veteran having served during World War II. He retired as a manager with Clark Tire and was an avid golfer, having had three holes-in-one. Bobby especially enjoyed spending time on the lake with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Cook and Marie Bondurant; and his brothers, Henry Bondurant and Charles Bondurant.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Katherine Ann Barrier Bondurant of the home; daughter, Barrie Bondurant and husband Gene Hyde of Asheville, NC; son, Stuart Bondurant and wife Lindsay of Belmont, NC; grandchildren, Alex Bondurant and wife Molly, Grace Bondurant, and Brad Bondurant; sister, Ruth Bondurant of Southern Pines, NC; and brother, John Bondurant of Greensboro, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Friendship United Methodist Church, 2900 Hwy 16 South, Newton, NC, with Rev. David Hamlyn and Rev. Susan Roddey officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. A private committal of Bobby’s cremains will be held in the Memorial Garden of Abernethy Laurels.
