Spencer was born March 30, 1999 to Katrina Dunham Lang and Allen E. Rose, II in Richmond, Indiana. He was a 2017 graduate of Connersville High School; following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. Since March he was stationed at Big Red One, Home of the 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Spencer was an aircraft structural repairer with the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. He earned the Army Service Ribbon and the National Defense Service Ribbon. Spencer valued serving his country and greatly enjoyed being outdoors, especially to fish and hunt. He was a very talented musician and excelled at playing the banjo and guitar. He loved spending time with his very special little sister, Maddie. Spencer is her hero. He attended Western Avenue Baptist Church, Connersville.
Spencer is survived by his wife, Kierstan P. Rose, who he married on December 30, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church; his parents: Katrina Lang and her husband, Jeff of Connersville; Allen E. “Beef” Rose, II and his wife, Linda of Connersville; his siblings: Maddie Lang , Christian Rose, Corey Rose, Damian Rose, Kassie Shafer, Sierra Shafer, Nick Shafer, Lexy Self, all of Connersville; his grandparents: Randy Dunham; Larry Witt and his companion, Loretta Byrd; Allen E. Rose; Esther Lang; all of Connersville; Eddie Fugate of Greensburg; his great-grandmother: Virginia Hapner and her companion, Wilbur Clark of Richmond; several aunts and uncles including Gary and Mickenzie Bush of Olathe, Kansas; his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Chase and Anna Hightower; several nieces, nephews, friends and his Siberian husky, Mya.
Spencer is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Donina A. Singleton; his paternal grandmother: Sandy McNally and his great-grandfather: Larry Dunham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 4th 2018 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Jeremiah Burdon of Western Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in section L of Dale Cemetery, near his beloved Mamaw, Donina A. Singleton. Graveside military honors will be conducted. Immediately following interment, fellowship and commemoration will follow at Elmhurst, 779 IN-121, Connersville, IN 47331. Friends and family of Kierstan’s may visit at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and friends and family of Spencer’s may visit at the funeral home Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
