Sally Tarsitano
21 December, 1951 – 30 September, 2023
IN THE CARE OF
Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home
Sally Francis Tarsitano was born on December 21, 1951, in Blue Island, IL, and died September 30, 2023, near her home in Connersville, IN.
Sally grew up with her parents, Chet and Betty Francis, and her sister Barbara and brother Paul. She cherished truth and beauty and earned a B.A. in Art History from Elmhurst College. It was there she met her husband Louis who loved to tell the story of providentially meeting Sally because her room was on the first floor of the dormitory, and he didn’t want to walk up another flight of stairs to find a date for a college dance. They were married in 1973 and enjoyed many happy years as a husband and wife until Louis died in 2005. It is a comfort to the family that she is reunited with him in blessed anticipation of the resurrection of the dead.
Louis and Sally had their first child, John, in 1982 followed by Benedict in 1984, Richard in 1985, and Mary Margaret in 1996. At various times, Sally lived all over the country with stops in Colorado, South Carolina, Missouri, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, and finally Indiana. She was a loving homemaker who supported her husband in his pastoral and academic duties while being an children’s author, artist, and framer.
Sally was a joyful, giving person who dedicated her life to helping others. No request was ever met with apathy or scorn, for she took seriously her Christian duty to love God with all her heart and her neighbor as herself. As St. Paul told the Corinthians in his second letter: ‘God loveth a cheerful giver,’ and there can be no doubt that the thousands of acts of kindness Sally bestowed upon her family and friends and enemies most certainly drew forth the smiling countenance of her Almighty Creator. We take great comfort in His goodness and know with absolute confidence she is even now gazing into the happy face of God hearing those precious words, ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.’
Sally is survived by her daughter (Mary Margaret), two sons (John and Richard) and a daughter in-law (Meghan), three grandchildren (Madeline, Hugh, and Elsie), one sister (Barbara), brother in-law (Bruce), and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in her name at Trinity Anglican Church, 215 E 6th St. Connersville, IN. Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday, October 28th at 1:00 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church with a graveside interment service at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Chicago, IL to be determined.
