Obituary of John W. Peak
John W. Peak, 65 of Connersville, died unexpectedly, Friday, June 14, 2024, at home. John was born October 31, 1958, in Connersville to Donald W. and Saranne Miller Peak. He was a 1977 graduate of Connersville High School. He started work young running a paper route with the help of his dad. He moved to Florida soon after graduating and worked several jobs in the hospitality industry until finding his niche in providing Companion Care for the elderly. He met his Husband Charles Dufour in 1986 and they resided in St. Petersburg, Florida. In their leisure time, they enjoyed building water features and flower gardens. Their home in Historic Kenwood was featured on local home and garden TV morning shows and several home and garden tours open to the public. He had returned home about three years ago to be closer to his family. John never met a stranger. He was always extremely quick witted and brought much joy to those around him. He also had an eye for decor and was always eager to assist people with their projects and redecorating. He loved collecting art, spending time with his large parrots, and his many cats. John is survived by his sister, Julianne (Ronnie) Hyser-Cooper of Connersville and many other family and friends. He had a caring soul and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, his husband Chuck Dufour, and his adoptive niece Kylianne Cooper. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter. Graveside service for John W. Peak will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 20, in Dale Cemetery, 801 N. Gregg Rd, Connersville, Indiana with Greg Marvel officiating.
