Obituary of Dennis G. Stevens
Dennis G. Stevens, 83, of Connersville died Thursday July 18, 2024 at Reid Health in Richmond. Dennis was born on June 7, 1941 to William N. and Olive M. Stevens. He attended Harrisburg High School from his freshman year until his junior year in 1958 when the High Schools consolidated. His senior year was spent at Connersville High School where he and his basketball team mates had the privilege to be the first to play in the Spartan Bowl once construction was complete. Following graduation, Dennis became employed at HH Robertson in 1959. He later served in the United States Army from 1963 - 1965. After returning home from Vietnam, Dennis continued his employment with HHR, until he began working at the Former Ford/Visteon plant. He retired in 2004 after many years of service. He married the love of his life, the former Bonnie Cooper in 1975. Together they enjoyed traveling all over the country from Seattle, to San Diego, and Florida, and many places in between. Dennis enjoyed playing golf and taking walks in the park with his precious pups. He adored tending to his yard and spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who know and love him. In addition to his wife of forty-nine years, Bonnie, Dennis is survived by his step-children: Marcie McGraw, Mason G. McGraw; sisters-in-law: Chris Jones, Sally (Tom) Hawke, Jan Cooper. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Olive; brother: Kermit Stevens; half-brother: Conrad Jones; canine companions: Ginger and Buddy; feline companion: Kirby. Per Dennis’ request, a Celebration of Life will be conducted from 4:00p.m., until 6:00 p.m., on Friday August 2, 2024 at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Fayette County Cancer Society or The Humane Society in Dennis’ honor.
