John "Johnny G" Gallagher, 54, unexpectedly and suddenly passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born October 24, 1966 in St Vincent's Hospital, Manhattan, NY. He spent the first 2 years of his life in Pomona under the care of Catholic Charities until he was adopted by Maureen and John Gallagher. He never knew his birth parents or any other family members as he chose not to. He was dearly loved by his mother Maureen Gallagher who cherished Johnny and loved him unconditionally and always will. They have an eternal bond that she will cherish for the rest of her life.
Johnny grew up in Nanuet, NY where he attended Highview school, Nanuet middle and Nanuet high school. He graduated in 1984 and befriended many people throughout his life. He was a very smart man where at the young age of 4 he could read the newspaper from front to back.
Furthermore, as a teenager he hung out at steep hill woods and loved to ride his motor cycle with his friends. He loved to dance as his mother taught him as a young child by playing ABBA songs. He played those songs over and over throughout the years clinging to those memories.
He was a carpenter by trade and worked for the Carpenters Union for many years until he became employed by Hudson County in Jersey City, NJ. It was there he met one of his closest friends, Jesse King. Throughout many years, they shared many laughs as they were lunch time buddies.and friends outside the work place. Johnny valued the support Jesse gave him and knew how to bring Johnny's spirits up and his family will always be deeply indebted to him.
He loved attending concerts with his friends, including grateful dead shows and went to Woodstock in 1994 which was one of his most fondest memories. He loved going to Yankee games and chasing Freddie the pan man and playing the spoons on his pan. He never missed a giants game and tailgating with his best of friends John Noone, his wonderful son John Jr, and his lifelong childhood friend Rob Rasulo, amongst numerous other close friends which was the biggest highlight for him.
His friends and family meant the world to him and he would do anything for them as well as for strangers. He loved to laugh and loved to talk until he was all talked out and that was rare! He had a big heart and he was a strong man.
Johnny met Laura (Hauser) in 1994, they fell in love instantly and spent the next 27 years together until his passing.
Johnny asked Laura to marry him at the top of the Sears tower in Chicago on August 31, 1997. It was the cloudiest day and there was no rhyme or reason as to why he would want to go there but they did. As he went up the elevator he was more nervous than ever! Laura had no idea why until they reached the top floor and much to Laura's surprise he asked her to marry him. They were married April 15, 2000 (tax day) and there was always one person who would never forget their anniversary, the accountant!
Before and after their marriage they traveled all over the country and until John "Jack" was born, August 17, 2009. After 9 years of trying desperately to have a child they were graced with a baby boy and he was his love of his life. The bond they had was deep and Johnny dedicated his life to Jack and did everything he could to help Jack grow and advance. Jack made strides as a result of Johnny's determination. One highlight of his life was when they went to Disney, via Make a Wish and it was a trip of their lifetime as a family.
He is survived by his loving wife Laura Gallagher, his beloved and cherished son, John "Jack", his loving mother Maureen Gallagher and father John Gallagher, his sister Victoria Scarola (Michael) and his nieces, Kathleen, Mae and Maura, his cousins Valerie and Dennis Murphy and Patrick Walsh, his Aunt Trudie Rainone, amongst numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins, and his nephew David Conklin.
He is preceded in death by his in laws, Loretta and William Hauser, his sister in law, Donna Hauser-Alvarado amongst his Aunt Yvonne and Uncle Patrick Walsh, Uncle Tommy and Sally Walsh and Aunt Marguerite "Marge" Walsh.
