Delphin Cernuda, 79, of Congers, NY died peacefully surrounded by his children on October 3, 2024. Delphin was born on October 26, 1944 to Delphin Sr and Mary Cernuda in New York City. He was the middle child of their three sons. The family moved to Pomona, NY in 1952. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1963. He then enlisted in the Air Force in 1964. He completed three and a half years of college while enlisted. He cherished the experience of traveling the world. He was discharged from the Air Force after 6 years of service. He later started his own construction company and continued to be an entrepreneur until he retired.
Delphin married the love of his life, Barbara on July 5, 1971. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage and were blessed with 4 children. He loved to golf with his friends and collecting and admiring classic cars. He was an active member of The Elks Club, The Knights of Columbus and on the board of The Veterans Memorial Association. He is survived by his sons Martin and Adam(Lauren); his daughters Gina Julien(David) and Joanna Pereira(Andrew) and his 9 grandchildren Christian, Aaron, Olivia, John, Joseph, Madison, Elijah, Benjamin and Mackenzie. He was also survived by his older brother Raul Paul Miller, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews and great friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife, his mother and father, his younger brother and many people that he loved dearly. He will be missed tremendously by all that know and love him.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-8 at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, 10, St. Paul’s Church, Congers, followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Congers, NY.
