Steve was born August 29, 1955 in Skowhegan, Maine to Beverly A. and Frank Spaulding Clough, Jr. He grew up in Madison, Maine graduating from Madison High in 1973. Steve attended the University of Maine at Orono, from 1974-1975. In 1981, Steve got a degree in Wastewater Facility Operation and Management from S.M.V.T.I. in Portland Maine.
Steve moved to NH in 1982 to work at the Concord Hall Street WW Plant. From 1984 to present, Steve served as Environmental Director for the town of Hopkinton, as the first operator of the WW plant. In 2001, Steve was nominated and won an EPA Excellence Award for Regional Wastewater Treatment Operations and Maintenance. Over the years his duties grew to encompass the landfill closure and subsequently, the transfer station and recycling center. In 1987, Steve also became the Superintendent of the Contoocook Village Precinct. During this busy time in 1989, Steve graduated, summa cum laude, from Franklin Pierce College with a B.S. in business administration with a major in management.
Steve was devoted to his family. He enjoyed writing, playing cards, wailing on the guitar, and all NE sports. He also loved spending time at camp in Embden, Maine.
Steve’s family includes his wife of 32 years, Robin. His sister, Deborah of Venice, Florida. His son, Frank and wife, Julie of Bow; his grandchildren, Jesse, Maya, Andrew, and Autumn Clough; his son, Stephen of Hudson, NH; his daughter, Haley of Denver, CO and daughter, Cassie of Concord. Del Rae Kirkhart and Michael Rippett who have always held a special place in his heart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 2-4 at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, NH, with a service at 4.
