CONCORD-Ronald K. Brown passed away October 7, 2017 of Alzheimer’s disease while a resident of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Concord, NH. He was born October 25, 1934 in Lynn, MA the son of Kenneth W. and Ermine M. Brown, and Stepmother Ruth G. Brown. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Laurel L. Keefe, his beloved daughters, Felicia F. Brown and husband Andrew Cagle of Gainesville, FL, and Jada L. Brown of Concord, his step sons Jaden K Herrin and wife Erica of Denver, CO, and Trevor R Herrin and wife Sarah of North Grafton, MA. In addition, he leaves behind grandchildren Alexandra Cagle, David Cagle, Miya Gagne, and step grandson, Jack Herrin.
Ron was the eldest of three sons and cherished his time with his brothers; Lawrence A. Brown and wife Sandra of Honolulu, HI, and Russell Brown and wife Valerie of Laconia, NH. Ron had numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends, former colleagues and many former students.
Ron graduated from Wake Field High school, MA, in 1952, served in the US Navy 1955 to 1957, and was a 1961 graduate of University of NH. With a BA in history. He went on to a successful thirty four years teaching career, inspiring countless students to pursue careers in politics, law, and education. His career included being named 1987 Social Studies teacher of the year, as well as teaching in England for a year.
After his 1995 retirement from the Concord School District, Ron continued his community involvements through his many volunteer positions with NH Public Television, NH Public Radio, AARP, Wesley United Methodist Church Choir, and an enthusiastic ten year tenure with the Granite State Ambassador program. Ron loved New Hampshire, books, travel, and walks with Shelby, his four legged pal. He knew something about everything and was a lifelong learner.
