Richard (Dick) Schoch of Contoocook, NH died February 11, 2024, in Concord, New Hampshire at the age of 82. Remembered for his practicality, quick wit, compassion, and ingenuity, Richard (Dick) was the son of James and Ruth Schoch of Contoocook, NH, born on January 12, 1942, in Hillsboro, New Hampshire. He is survived by two brothers, Jim and Bruce.
The family moved to Concord in the early 1950’s where Dick attended Concord schools and graduated from Concord High School in 1960. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Army and became a proud member of the 326 Engineer Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division stationed at Fort Campbell Kentucky. Discharged from the Army in 1963 Dick returned home to Concord, NH and on April 6, 1963, married his high school sweetheart, Jayne Drescher and they began building a home and life in Contoocook where they raised their children Karen and Jamie (Jake). He felt privileged that his children made a choice to live close by and fortunate that he could watch the family grow to include Jake’s wife Kasey and two grandsons Ryan and Tyler. His daughter Karen lives nearby in Henniker, NH.
Dick enjoyed his community and was proud to be one of the founding members of the Hopkinton Rescue Squad that helped save many lives for over fifty years and continues its’ legacy in Littleton, NH. Dick and Jayne established and operated Dick Schoch Plumbing and Heating for over fifty years and were thrilled to transfer ownership to their son Jake in 2023.
Please join us in celebration of Dick’s life at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord, NH at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24th, 2024 followed by a luncheon at that location.
